The History

Horticulture has always been in the family. It started with Tony's father William who used to work for a local fruit grower in the late 1940s. He then started to grow gooseberry bushes for himself and sell at the local plant auction.

In 1971 Tony gave up his job in a factory to pursue his passion of owning his own nursery business. Tony and his wife Jean started off by growing hedging plants on half an acre of land they rented local to where they lived in Wisbech.

In 1977 with the business expanding and needing more space they decided to buy a six acre small holding in the village of Walpole Highway. A 10000 square foot permanent barn was erected so they would have ample space for all the plants. This barn is still the main hub of the nursery today.

Jean and Tony have now retired, and son Andrew who has been working at the Nursery since he left school has taken over running of the business, along with wife Amy who runs the website and social media as well as looking after their two young children, Elena and Arthur. We grow many plants on site including laurel, blackberries, blueberries, ornamental trees and shrubs.

We currently have three large poly tunnels and many capillary beds, with plans to extend this to make room for growing larger quantities of plants. We are still a small family run business. The approach taken in 1971 does not differ from the one we take now. We pride ourselves on selling quality plants at competitive prices with a great customer service.
